A 1980s pre-apocalypse board/wargame/rpg. Overpopulation, mind control, black propaganda, 4 minute warning, mass unemployment, psychic alien invasion, indigo children, urban planning failure, state controlled media and crisps.
Oldhammer, meet Pokéhammer. It's a game where you travel the chaos wastes, collecting monstas and training them up into the best fighting force eva, to battle them against other Pokéhammer masters in the challenge to become the most powerful Pokéhammer master in the universe.
The awesome powers of each monsta is described in great detail in a series of Hammadex for each breed of monsta.
AKA a quick look around the current Games Workshop range to find some plastic tat for a ROC Chaos Warband.
OK I like all those miniatures. I like the modelling, and I like the character designs (although the Chaos Warriors are a tad boring, the trolls weapons are naff and not sure about his belly-plate?- but he could be reposed to stand on one leg and look really levitating/landing, with only a little work) But over all, thumbs up from me.
It's hard to find a GW character that represents weakness, and frailty, which is what I want for my champion. This Vampire Counts necromancer is quite good, but would need converting - the collar would have to go and the staff replaced with a sword. So instead - Grima Wormtongue - I choose you! Even the difference in proportion between Warhammer and Lord of the Rings helps here, as it makes the champion even smaller, and perhaps more pathetic.
Oh yeah. Themetune time:
I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To kill them is my real test
To slay them is my cause
I will travel across the wastes
Searching far and wide
Each mutant to understand
The power that's inside
Warhammer, it's you and me
I know it's my destiny
Warhammer, oh, you're my best friend
In a world we must defend
Warhammer, a heart so true
Our courage will pull us through
You teach me and I'll teach you
Warhammer, gotta kill 'em all
Every challenge along the way
With courage I will face
I will battle every day
To claim my rightful place
Come with me, the time is right
There's no better team
Arm in arm we'll win the fight
It's always been our dream
I don't really like that they're all plastic kits (or Finecast? which I assume is some kind of new fangled psychostyrene), and would cost me
£85.00 if bought new. On the plus-side, I could get it delivered to my local Games Workshop and turn up wearing an Oldhammer t-shirt and a copy of Realms Of Chaos: Slaves to Darkness to "double-check the models are tournament legal Pokéhammer materials".
T-Shirt design I drew for Red Box Games Kickstarter V.III
Odin, the ravens Hugin & Munin, the wolves Geri and Freki, Nidhogg chewing on a Yggdrasil Beard, woven together into a traditional Thors Hammer. Njorn! $25USD as an additional pledge. Oh, you might have to back some miniatures as well!
Red Box Games Kickstarter the Third, ends in 10 days, modular Orcs, Norse and Dwarf miniatures.
Here's some backer icons wot i did drew for the KS promotions and whatnot...
And some erm, grffix for tha announcment of strich gaahls:
Ands a bannadvert wiv runes in the background and strange usa date formatted date.
The runes read:
Implacable, remorseless, fearless, and without mercy Orcs are feared far
and wide. Rare in the North lands these vicious brutes are far cousins
of Goblin kind from the dry arid highland Deserts of the southron lands
west of the Aelf lands. Not much taller than a man but weighing easily
as much as three large men Orcs are incredibly strong and tough. It is
said that an Orc can survive a spear through it's gut long enough to
kill ten men, or barely flinch as an arm is cleaved away. It is said
they are unnatural, that they are more akin to trolls than to goblins
bred in ancient times by mad wizards seeking to build an unstoppable
army but that they threw down their lords and destroyed their
kingdom.......... but whatever..... thank the Gods these monsters are as
quick to war upon each other as they are men or dwarves or elves else
the north lands would have been over run long ago.
Which is Tres description of:
Tre's drawing of an Orc Hero
Better get my finger out, supposed to have a new, exclusive, rare, T-shirt design done...
Oh yeah, and RoZ just reached 200+ followers, 200,000+ page views. Thank you all! Oh and apologoes to the people gracious enough to have RoZ on their bloglists, apologies for the animated post icon - unfortunately I cant fix that. normal service will resume shortly.
